George's Invention Kicks Goals

George Parthimos

The Pearcey Foundation promotes and encourages Australian ICT Achievement. It was founded in 1998 in memory of a great Australian ICT pioneer Dr Trevor Pearcey.

George Parthimos founded Torian Wireless Limited, a start-up company which has grown to be globally recognised as one of the market leaders in Internet radio technology. The Torian technology enables any person anywhere in the world to access Internet radio content from a consumer electronics device eg: ipods.

Known as iRoamer Technology, this proprietary development makes Internet radio possible, and has been specifically designed to be easily embedded in a myriad of consumer products.

Among George's achievements highlighted by the Foundation, were that he:

  • partnered with Dick Smith Electronics to launch the InFusion product across the top 20 Powerhouse stores in February 2007
  • received several high-profile awards at the past three consecutive Consumer Electronics shows in Las Vegas USA.

George's iRoamer Technology was born out of personal necessity. A self-confessed Collingwood footy tragic he was backpacking through Europe in the 1990s, and came up with the idea when he couldn't keep track of his much-loved Magpies.

George studied for his Bachelor of Business Computing at VU, and now his company's internet radio device is taking the market by storm, hardly surprising as there are at least 100,000 internet radio stations around the world.

And with the make and break Collingwood match on this Saturday night, thanks to George, Magpie fans across the globe will be able to listen in.
