VU Lecturers Publish Industry Report on BI Maturity.
 
Robert Jovanovic , Carmine Sellitto and Paul Hawking have written an industry report on the Business Intelligence Maturity of Australian Companies.  This report has been distributed through the SAP Australian User Group.  A copy of the report can be found HERE.

 

VU Lecturer Becomes a SAP Mentor
Paul Hawking is the first and only academic in the world to achieve the status of SAP Mentor.  SAP Mentors are considered knowledge leaders in their area of expertise and evangelists in passing this knowledge to others in the SAP community.

 

Victoria University Wins the Supply Chain Simulation Game
A team from VU beat 5 other teams to win the inaugural competition.  Linfox organised for each winning team member to receive a smart phone from Telstra.

 

Supply Chain Simulation Game
 
SAP and Victoria University to conduct the first Supply Chain Simulation Game. The one day game utilising SAP solutions will involve teams for six different universities and Linfox employees.  Each university team will have a Linfox mentor as part of their team.

 

Paul Invited to SAP International Research Forum
 
Paul Hawking, Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Systems, has been invited to the 2010 SAP International Research Forum in Germany. Only twenty invitees from industry and academia were invited to assits SAP in designing their future research agenda.  Further details can be found HERE

 

Victoria University Lecture Top Ten Most Influential People In SAP

Singapore Government to Support Victoria Uni Students
The Singapore Government has introduced a scheme to sponsor students to undertake the SAP related subjects from VU.  The sponsorship also covers a paid internship in industry.  To read more click HERE

 

Victoria University SAP Website Popularity
Since the SAP VU website was relaunched in 2008 it has more than 50,000 visitors according to Google Analytics.  Approximately 71% of these visitors were first time visits.

 

VU Academic Explains Data Mining to Industry
Robert Jovanovic was invited by the SAP Australian User Group to present to its members about the benefits of data mining and the relevant SAP solutions.

 

Victoria University Conducts Academic Workshop and SAP Certification
 
Fifteen academics from Australian universities attended a 10 day SAP workshop at Victoria University.  The workshop was based on SAP TERP10 Consultant Certification and taught by Paul Hawking.

 

TERP10 Certification Offered By Victoria University
 
TERP10 is a SAP Consultant Certification based on business process integartion.  Victoria University is the first university in Australia, Pacific Japan to offer this certification to university students.  The certification course is available to any student from a SAP University Alliance member.  More details about upcoming courses can be found HERE

SAP Advance Planner and Optimiser
 
Victoria University has introduced SAP APO into their supply chain subjects as part of the Master of Business in ERP Systems.

 

SAP uAcademy SAP Consultant Certification
 
Victoria University has become the first and only university in the world to become an SAP uAcademy.  This entitles Victoria University students to undertake SAP Consultant Certification online at a significantly discounted rate.  Further details can be found HERE

 

Australian University Dashboard Competition
 
Victoria University in partnership with SAP has launched the inaugural Australian University Dashboard Competition.  This competition is open to all Australian university students and the winning team will recive Apple iPads.  Further details can be found HERE

 

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
 
Victoria University is one the first universities in the world to introduce SAP CRM into their curriculum.  The introduction of CRM has been in response to industry and student demand.  Brendan McCarthy and Carmine Sellitto should be congratulated  for their efforts and expertise in introducing this new subject.

 

Advanced HCM Subject in Mid Semester Break

Victoria University is fortunate to able to offer this subject for the first time due to an international collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Ansbach, Germany. Professor Bernd Heesen, an internationally recognised SAP practitioner, has been appointed to Victoria University in September/October as a visiting fellow. Professor Heeson was founder and president of the international consulting company, Prescient Consulting. He has kindly offered his expertise to conduct a subject for students of VU. SAP Certification Program

Victoria University in conjunction with SAP are offering Integrated Business Process Certification to university students across Victoria.  This is the first time this 3 week program will be offered to students in Australia.  The link below outlines the course. VU Staff Pass Certification Exams

Stephen Paull and Paul Hawking recently successfully completed SAP Consultant Certification examinations in the area of Integrated Business Processes.  Victoria University will be utilising their skills to offer a similar certification program to students in 2008.
 

VU Staff Part of Global SAP Curriculum Project

Robert Jovanovic and Paul Hawking have been invited by SAP to form part of a global curriculum project to develop Business Intelligence curriculum.  Once completed this curriculum will be distributed to over 700 universities throughout the world who are a part of the SAP University Alliance Program.  Robert and Paul are the only academics from the southern hemisphere to be invited to be part of the project.

 

Diversiti targets Victoria University Students

One of Australia's leading SAP recruitment companies, Diversiti, has formed a partnership with Victoria University. Diversiti will assist ERP students in gaining employment. This will include promoting VU students to their clients, employment preparation seminars for students and assistance with work integrated learning programs. Diversiti have created a website for VU students where they can submit their details to be considered for SAP related employment.

A Careers Day for postgraduate IS and ERP students will take place on Friday 18 May. Representatives from the Australian Taxation Office, Accenture and Alcatel-Lucent will discuss their Graduate Recruitment Programs. This will be followed by one-on-one student interviews.

ERP On-Line Units 2007

Four units from the Master of Business in ERP Systems will be offered on-line in 2007. Students who successfully complete the four units will be eligible to exit with a Graduate Certificate in ERP Systems. All subjects integrate significant hands-on use of SAP. Students will be provided with remote access to our SAP servers via the internet. It is recommended that students have broadband internet access.

Graduate Employment - Accenture

UPDATE January 2007: Three ERP graduates have been offered positions by Accenture following this event.

A representative from Accenture, a large global consulting company who specialise in SAP (www.accenture.com) will be visiting Victoria University next Tuesday, December 5th 2006, to talk about their Graduate Recruitment Program. They would also like to interview students who have just completed their course and who have PR or Australian Citizenship.

HECS places now available for 2006

Australian citizens commencing a postgraduate ERP course (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters) in semester 1 2006 will be offered a HECS place. HECS is a government subsidised scheme which significantly reduces the course cost. Students who have a HECS place do not have to pay any fees up front. However if they choose to pay their subsidised fee upfront they will receive a further discount from the government.

First ERP Subject On-Line - Enterprise Resource Planning Systems 2006

As a new initiative, the Enterprise Resource Planning Systems subject (BCO6603) will be conducted on-line over a 5 week period starting January 9th 2006. This on-line subject will enable greater flexibility and ease of access for our students. It will facilitate students from other parts of Australia, and International students, to access our ERP curriculum and SAP solutions.

Teaching Excellence Award

Ms Deb Stewart, lecturer of the ERP core subject BMO6624 Organisation Change Management, was recently awarded Victoria University's Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence. Deb's subject has had significant impact on our ERP students, fostering their development as leaders, change agents and managers. Our ERP graduates working in the field have identified Organisation Change Management as one of the most important and relevant subjects within their ERP course.

Summer Semester 2004 - ERP Applications (Data Warehousing)

We have invited Maria-Luise Ossimitzl of the University of Technology , Sydney ,to take a subject in Summer School on ERP Data Warehousing. Ms Ossimitz is an expert on SAP's Business Warehousing product (BW) and has published a book on SAP BW.

Skilled Migration Question & Answer Session

A representative from the Adelaide Skilled Migration Processing Centre will conduct a 60 minute presentation followed by a 30 minute question and answer session on Friday 22 October 12pm, Room C926 at the City Campus. Master of ERP Systems in China

The Chinese government has recently approved the Master of Business in ERP Systems to be offered in China. Victoria University in partnership with Beijing Jiaotong University will launch this program early 2004. Teaching will be supported using an ASP model and the use of e-learning technologies.

New SAP Server

The Faculty of Business and Law has funded the purchase of a new SAP server. The new server is called Sapphire and will be used for teaching in Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong and China. Sapphire is currently being installed and configured.
