Social Impacts of Tourism on Tasmanian Communities Surveys

The following surveys are for residents of six areas in Tasmania, namely, Bruny Island, Bothwell, King Island, Flinders Island, Richmond and North East Dorset. It is also for those non-resident home owners on the three islands named.

Complete the Online Questionnaire

The aim of the survey is to obtain residents’ and home owners’ perceptions of tourism in their area. The findings from the study will assist Tourism Tasmania in the direction and level of tourism development.

This project, which is funded by Tourism Australia and facilitated by Tourism Tasmania in partnership with the relevant local councils, is being undertaken by the Centre for Tourism and Services Research at Victoria University. All data provided for the study remain confidential.

Who can complete the survey?

If you are over 18 years of age, you are eligible to complete the questionnaire

Why complete the survey?

Your participation in the survey is completely voluntary. However, the more responses we receive, the more reflective the results will be in terms of the social impacts of tourism on local communities.The results of this study will help the local council and Tourism Tasmania ensure that the tourism that develops in your region is consistent with the local community’s needs.

Survey Results

Survey results will be circulated to your community in an aggregated form so that individuals cannot be identified based on their responses.

Results will be used to inform and promote sustainable tourism in your region and in other tourism regions in Tasmania and Australia.
